How the Norwegian Football Association moved from ImageVault to Optimizely DAM – with automation, specialist support and control throughout the process.
When ImageVault was being decommissioned, the Norwegian Football Association faced a substantial migration: around 70,000 images needed to be moved to Optimizely DAM.
With a large volume of valuable media and metadata to protect, the challenge was not simply moving files from one system to another. The migration needed to be predictable, minimise risk and fit into the organisation’s existing way of working. The Norwegian Football Association also wanted to use its own technical resources wherever possible, while having access to specialist expertise when needed.
A migration built around control
The Norwegian Football Association chose Proxima DAM Migration from Epinova to support the move.
Rather than treating the migration as a one-off manual exercise, we combined a structured analysis and planning phase with a purpose-built migration tool. This made it possible to identify dependencies early, define the right migration approach and automate much of the work.
The migration covered the images themselves, as well as the metadata, file structure and CMS references that needed to remain connected.
Epinova provided the specialist knowledge and technical support, while the Norwegian Football Association carried out a significant part of the migration using its own team.
The result was a delivery model that gave the customer both hands-on control and the reassurance of an experienced migration partner.
70 000 images – without losing what matters
For a migration of this size, the files are only part of the story. Metadata, structure and references are equally important, and losing any of them can create significant manual work after the move.
By automating the migration process, Proxima DAM Migration helped preserve the relationships between assets and the surrounding Optimizely solution, while reducing the need for manual handling.
In total, approximately 70,000 images were migrated from ImageVault to Optimizely DAM.
